Our Interpreters

Qualifications for each Professional Interpreter
Our professional telephone interpreters are carefully screened and trained before they go to work for us and our clients. We start by looking for the following qualifications:

  • Professional interpreter training from an accredited institution
  • Professional certification
  • Professional experience in their field of expertise (e.g., medical interpreters include medical school graduates, registered nurses and medical assistants)
  • At least two years of professional interpreting experience
  • Native fluency in a target language and a source language (e.g., Spanish/English)

Telephone interpreter applicants must demonstrate an ability to mirror their clients’ tone and style, interpreting conversations with the same level of emotion and inflection used by the English and limited-English proficient individuals.

Our telephone interpreters must also pass a criminal background check, sign a confidentiality agreement and adhere to our Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
